WNC ad club hosts kickoff celebration in Asheville
Advertising, marketing and creative professionals across WNC invited

STAFF REPORTS

From 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the American Advertising Federation of Asheville (AAFA) kicks off its new season with a celebration at Posana Café, 1 Biltmore Avenue in Asheville.

Advertising professionals from across the region are invited to share food, fun and networking with WNC’s best and brightest. Club leaders will give members and guests an inside look at the organization's professional development opportunities and community service activities, and will announce the new lineup of programs and events planned for 2009-2010. The kickoff includes a guest appearance from award-winning writer Susan Reinhardt.

AAFA was formed in January 2009 by a group of local industry professionals who sought to create a more cohesive advertising community throughout the region. The AAFA is open to all advertising related professionals in Western North Carolina, including advertising agencies, media companies, marketing departments, creative services, print and broadcast media, industry suppliers like paper companies and printers, freelancers, college students and others working in advertising related industries.

“We recognized that Asheville has attracted an unusually large population of advertising professionals, and creatives from some of the top agencies in the world,” said Brenda Murphree, AAFA President. “The depth and breadth of experience in the region is so vast, it just made sense to give these individuals a collective voice and an opportunity to serve the local community as an organization.”
